My New Year's Goals and Resolutions

Well 2017 is over and it's time for a new, fresh and (hopefully) amazing new year.  For 2017 I didn't really set any goals or have any resolutions but this year I have quite a few and I hope to complete them all!

My first goal/resolution is the most typical one ever that I'm sure millions of other people will have too, and that is to...

1) Be healthier

I know, I know, pretty much everyone has this goal/resolution but I really do mean it.  I want to be healthier by eating less sugar (I'm going to completely cut out sweets) and eating less processed foods.  I want to be full of happiness and energy this year and cutting out and limiting bad foods will really help.

2) Exercise more

Yet again, another popular resolution that I'm sure a lot of people will have.  This is another one that I'm very serious about.  I've been meaning to do more exercise for ages now and 2018 is going to be my year!  I used to do a lot of long distance running and I've been dying to get back into it again.  I know I can, but more importantly, I know I will.

3) Compliment at least one person a day

This one might be strange to you but I really just want to have a very positive and happy vibe this year and so giving at least one person a compliment a day will really help.  Seeing other people happy will make me more happy, as well as them, so why not?!

4) Look for the positive in everything

This is definitely something I already try to do but this year I'd really like to do this a lot more.  I can be quite negative about some things at times, but this year I want to look for the positive in absolutely everything.  There's no such thing as being too positive.  😉

5) Be able to do the splits (and be more flexible in general)

I can't believe how un-flexible I am!  It's awful and I really don't like feeling stiff and tight.  By the end of 2018 I want to be able to do the splits and just be more flexible.  I can barely touch my toes and that's just embarrassing!

6) Go on holiday abroad

I have never been on a holiday abroad and I am dying to have at least one holiday over in another country.  I really want to go to Spain, France (Paris in particular), Greece, India, Austria (to go skiing) and so many more.

7) Have a blogging schedule and stick to it

I have been so awful at blogging consistently this year and it's driving me crazy.  This year I want to have a blogging schedule and stick to it.  I'd like to be blogging at least once a week or more.  I really do love blogging but I just don't make enough time for it.  This year it's definitely a top priority.

8) Be more confident

I am quite a confident person when I'm with my family but as soon as I'm with a different group of people a lot of my confidence disappears.  I know that this year I'll be way more confident no matter who I'm with because at the end of the day it's my life and I'm my own boss and I'll choose how I want to feel.

9) Start buying Christmas presents early

Last year I was a total flop when it came to buying Christmas presents.  I am going to make sure I start buying presents a lot earlier this year, and by a lot earlier I mean a LOT earlier.  I'm going to start buying presents around about now.  Crazy I know.

10) Do more of what I love

I love doing so many things but I feel like I never do any of them!  It's so annoying and I don't know why I don't do them.  For example, I love photography so much but I just never do it anymore.  It's probably just me being lazy but this year I'm making sure I do more of what I love.

11) Be happy and grateful

And last but not least is to be happy.  I am a very happy person in general and I want that to continue that into every year.  I'm also very grateful but not grateful enough!  I need to be more grateful for the 'little things' like having a house, having fresh food etc.

I hope you have all had a wonderful 2017 and will have an even better 2018!  Let me know some of your new year goals/resolutions.  I'd love to hear what everyone else is hoping to achieve in 2018 and you know what they say, telling people your goals makes you want to complete them even more. 😉

  2. What great goals to aim towards! Mine is to be a little braver & more adventurous (I don't socialise as much as I should). To be healthier & cut down my sugar intake a little. And to be more positive! There is an endless list but these are the ones I'm hoping that I can really stick to them!

  5. That's a great list, particularly number 3. I wish my wife would do number 4....
We don't make resolutions at New Year but do make then throughout the year, as and when required!
