Fenty Beauty Review + Giveaway

Ever since Fenty Beauty makeup has been released, I have been dying to try out at least a couple of the products.  Everyone seemed to have mixed reviews about the makeup and at the end of the day you'll never know if you like something unless you try it yourself.

I bought the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Lightening Dust and Fire Crystal and the Cosmic Gloss Lip Glitter in Astro Naughty.

When the parcel arrived I was quite anxious.  I was wondering if the products would even be very pigmented and if they would have been worth the money.

The packaging was so sleek and stylish.  When I opened the Killawatt Highlighter I was in awe.  It looked so sparkly and pretty.  I rushed to get a brush so I could try it on and wow, it was incredible.  This was the first highlighter that had ever shown up on me and it was truly glowing.  I couldn't have been more happy and pleasantly surprised.  This highlighter truly was worth every penny and I'm so pleased that I bought it.  This highlighter changes your whole makeup look from a dull anybody to a healthy glowing goddess.  I might be a bit over the top when talking about it, but seriously, I would so highly recommend it.

Next in the parcel was the Cosmic Gloss.  The packaging on this was truly eye catching.

The lid of the lip-gloss had a stunning sheen and changed colour as you moved it in the light.  The actual lip-gloss looked so sparkly and gorgeous in its plummy red shade.  I applied the lip-gloss right away.  I was shocked at how pigmented, sparkly and shiny this was.  It looked fabulous and changed the whole makeup look to a very stylish, almost daring, autumnal/wintery look.  I immediately thought of how lovely this would be to wear at Christmas time.

Overall I am extremely happy with the products I bought.  Everything about them from the packaging to the quality was jaw dropping.  It's not everyday that I splurge on some makeup but I'm so glad I did this time.

So as a special treat for you my #HoneyBunnys I have a fabulous giveaway so you can win your very own Limited Edition Cosmic Gloss Lip Glitter in Astro Naughty!

This is an international giveaway.  Good luck!  πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

Skin Care Routine + Tips For Keeping Your Skin Clear

Having a good skincare routine is vital to having a gorgeous healthy glow and clear skin.  I didn't really have a skincare routine until about a year ago and my goodness has my skin changed since I started having one!  I used to just remove my makeup and go to bed and this really wasn't good for my skin as just using a makeup wipe wasn't cleaning my face properly.  My pores felt really clogged and I just didn't feel great.  I started to get loads of spots and I didn't really know what to do but slowly and gradually I started to build up a skin care routine to the point where I am now.  My skin is so much clearer than it used to be and it feels a lot healthier.  So without further ado, here is my skincare routine....

Step 1: Exfoliating

Keeping your skin exfoliated is so important in a  skin care routine because if you don't exfoliate your old skin cells will start to pile up and make your skin really dirty which will lead to acne and at the end of the day I think it's safe to assume no one wants acne!  To exfoliate I use a natural face wash and gently scrub my face using a cotton flannel daily.

Step 2: Moisturising

After I have finished exfoliating I will move on to moisturising.  Moisturiser is not something I have always used, but it really is worth the extra money/hassle.  When I first started building up my skincare routine I only exfoliated, moisturising didn't really cross my mind, that is until, my skin started to get a little dryer than usual.  Once my skin started to get quite dry I realised that I should probably moisturise.  I spent ages looking for a moisturiser that was more natural and had no parabens or other harmful chemicals in and that is when I came across Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Cream.

This has been a really great moisturiser for me (as I'm sure you can tell considering I'm now squashing the packaging to get the last bits out) because I'm not overly keen on moisturisers like coconut oil as they don't really settle into the skin as much as I'd like.  This one is a creamy consistency and my skin really absorbs it a lot quicker than many others I have tried.

When I started to exfoliate and moisturise daily my skin became a lot clearer and definitely looked a lot healthier but it wasn't quite where I wanted it to be.  I still had a couple of spots that would go away for a day and then appear somewhere else on my face and I wasn't very happy about it.  I wanted to have perfectly clear skin that lasted more than just a day.  Here are my top tips for achieving clear skin....

Step 1:  Drink Tons of Water

I didn't really drink much water for a long time and was usually quite dehydrated.  All of this changed when I read somewhere that drinking lots of water was actually a great way to clear your skin.  The first thing I did was look up how much water I should be drinking at my age and that was it, every single day ever since then I have been drinking the right amount of water and spreading it throughout the day.  My skin looked SO much better after just about 3 days of doing this.

Step 2:  Avoid Sugar (as much as possible)

Now I'm not saying that I don't have any sugar at all.  Everything we have should definitely be in moderation, but I have cut out a lot of sugar compared to the amount that I used to have.  I used to have at least a pile of sweets a day and maybe a fizzy drink 2-3 times a week.  Looking back I actually can't believe I would do that to my poor, poor skin.  I first cut down on the amount of sugar I had when I saw a video about how fizzy drinks are made and all the chemicals that are in them.  That video put me of fizzy drinks completely and I haven't had one fizzy drink for about a year now.  Obviously you don't have to completely cut something out like that, but me being the over-the-top person I am just had to.  I also stopped having as many sweets and other unhealthy 'treats'. I will admit that I do still have the occasional 'treat' but it's definitely not so often.

Step 3:  Exercise

Sweating is an amazing way to get rid of toxins in your body. Toxins can quite often come out as spots on our face but if you're getting rid of them by sweating from exercising then obviously you're not going to get as many spots.  If you are so lucky as to have a sauna then I would recommend using that too.

And that is my skincare routine + tips for keeping your skin clear.  I really hope this has helped you out in some sort of way and that you can take away a tip or two from this.  Taking care of ourselves is so important and it's always nice to hear what everyone else does so that we can learn something and pass it along to help even more people out.  If you have a great skincare routine or any fabulous tips then please do let me know in the comments!

Freshlook Coloured Contact Lenses Review

I have wanted to try coloured contact lenses for longer than I can remember, so when I got the chance to review Freshlook Coloured Contact lenses, I couldn't resist!  I had never worn contact lenses before I received the ones I have now, so I didn't really know what to expect.
You can choose from 12 different colours, which is very hard because they all look so incredible. I ended up picking Gemstone Green as I have always thought that it would be so cool to have green eyes.

The contact lenses arrived in a nice little box which I thought looked very neat and tidy.  The packaging was very good and very appropriate for the products.

The box included:

  • Renu All in One Starter Pack Sensitive Eyes
  • Freshlook Colorblends | Gemstone Green

The coloured contact lenses look great and I couldn't wait to try them on for the first time.  Before I put the contact lenses in, I was hoping that they were going to look very natural so that I could wear them out and about and still look normal.

I was pleasantly surprised at how natural yet different they looked. The Gemstone Green contact lenses were so nice and vibrant.  I really wasn't expecting them to look as good as they did.  Although I struggled to get them in the first time, it was much easier the second time I tried.
When I first wore the contact lenses I found them quite uncomfortable but after a little while I got used to them and they were fine to wear without any discomfort.

There are so many benefits to coloured contact lenses.  One of the main benefits is that you can change your eye colour to practically any colour and it's so fun to change up your look every now and then.  They are also great for occasions like Halloween too.

Overall I am over the moon with my contact lenses and would definitely recommend them to anyone who hasn't tried coloured contact lenses before or anyone who just want to change up their look and try something new for a bit of fun.  For the price of £8.50 per lens and £4.00 for the Renu All in One Starter Pack, you can't really go wrong.  If you would like to buy yourself a pair of these amazing lenses then you can do so by clicking here.

Disclaimer:  I was sent a pair of coloured contact lenses in exchange for a review.  All words and opinions are my own.

Should You Buy Organic and Natural Makeup?

Millions of women across the world wear makeup, but few seem to know about the harsh and dangerous chemicals that are used in some of the most popular makeup brands.  Here are just a few of the chemicals that can be found in most makeup products:

Parabens. Parabens can come in the form of butylparaben, ethylparaben, isobutylparaben, methylparaben, or propylparaben.  Parabens are chemicals which have been used since the 1950s to prevent bacteria and act as a preservative in deodorants, lotions, lipsticks, shampoos, scrubs, and many more products.  You can also find them in food and pharmaceutical products.  Studies have shown that some parabens can mimic the activity of the hormone oestrogen in the body’s cells, and while estrogenic activity is associated with certain forms of breast cancer, parabens have been found present in breast tumours.
Synthetic colours. These synthetic colors are derived from petroleum or coal tar sources. Synthetic colors are suspected to be a human carcinogen, a skin irritant and are linked to ADHD in children. The European Classification and Labeling considers it a human carcinogen and the European Union has banned it.
Fragrance. As the consumer you could be putting on a concoction that contains tons of chemicals that are hazardous to your health. According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG) Skin Deep Database, fragrance mixes have been associated with allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and potential effects on the reproductive system. It can be found in many products such as perfume, cologne, conditioner, shampoo, body wash and moisturizers.
Phthalates. A group of chemicals used in hundreds of products to increase the flexibility and softness of plastics. The main phthalates in cosmetics and personal care products are dibutyl phthalate in nail polish, diethyl phthalate in perfumes and lotions, and dimethyl phthalate in hair spray. They are known to be endocrine disruptors and have been linked to increased risk of breast cancer, early breast development in girls, and reproductive birth defects in males and females. It is not disclosed on every product as it’s added to fragrances.  They can be found in deodorants, perfumes/colognes, hair sprays and moisturizers.
Triclosan. Tricolson is widely used antimicrobial chemical that’s a known endocrine disruptor — especially thyroid and reproductive hormones, and a skin irritant. Studies raise concerns that triclosan contributes to making bacteria antibiotic-resistant. There also wasn’t enough supporting evidence that washing with antibacterial soaps containing triclosan provides any benefit over washing with regular soap and water. Tricolson can be found in toothpastes, antibacterial soaps and deodorants.
Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) / Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). This surfactant can be found in more than 90 percent of personal care and cleaning products (especially foaming products). SLS’s are known to be skin, lung, and eye irritants. A major concern about SLS is its potential to interact and combine with other chemicals to form nitrosamines, a carcinogen. These combinations can lead to a host of other issues like kidney and respiratory damage. They can be found in shampoo, body wash/cleanser, mascara and acne treatment.
Formaldehyde. Formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives (FRP’s) preservatives are used in many cosmetic products to help prevent bacteria growth. This chemical was deemed as a human carcinogen by The International Agency for Research on Carcinogens (IARC) and has been linked to occupational related cancers: nasal and nasopharyngeal. It is known to cause allergic skin reactions and it may also be harmful to the immune system. It can be found in nail polish, body washes, conditioners, shampoos, cleansers, eye shadows, nail polish treatments, e.c.t.
And you have to remember that these are just a few harmful chemicals.  They use many more like Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium, Cobalt, Lead, Mercury, and Nickel Content.  And this is why we should buy organic and natural makeup.  We should be supporting the small companies who actually care about what is going on your skin and not the big makeup brands who just care about using the cheapest chemicals to make the most money.  And that is why you should buy organic and natural makeup.

I Heart Spring Tag

Spring is finally here and now the countdown for summer begins!  After what feels like a super long winter, it's nice to have pops of colour everywhere, along with flowers and warm weather.  The weather is perfect, you can actually go outside because it's not freezing anymore, and it's not super-duper hot so that you have to stay indoors.  Also I love that in spring we can welcome more colour into our outfits and wear more pastels.  Oh and lets not forget that the days get longer so we can spend more time out in the sunshine!

Favorite spring nail polish?

I love the colour of this Tanya Burr nail vanish in Pick n' Mix.  It's a a fun pastel pink spring colour.  I would wear this a lot more if it wasn't so sheer.  Unfortunately, as it is so sheer, I have to do several coats before the colour actually shows as much as it's supposed to.

Must have lip color this spring?

A must have lip colour this spring is the  NYX Professional Make-Up - Soft Matte Lip Cream.

These liquid lipsticks are amazing and they are super pigmented.  I would really love to get more of these, but currently the one in the shade 'Milan' is my favourite for spring.

Favorite spring dress?

My favourite spring dress is this gorgeous one I bought from Yumi after Christmas.

I love the way it comes in at the waist and flares out below that.  I also love that you can tie it at the back.

Favorite flower?

I love peonies and roses.  They are both so pretty!

Favorite spring accessory?

This gorgeous faux leather backpack I was gifted.

I love it so much and I always have it with me, wherever I go.  I think it adds so much more to an outfit and makes everything go together.

I love how stylish and sleek it looks, I also love the fact that it's more of a mini backpack but not too small, as I really didn't want to have to carry around a big bulky backpack and I didn't want one SO small that I couldn't actually fit anything in.  I would highly recommend getting one!

What spring trends are you most excited for this year (fashion and makeup)?

I'm so excited about the off the-shoulder and cold shoulder trend!  I am also obsessed with bell sleeves.  I feel like spring is going to be a good season for fashion and I'm so excited.  I'm also so glad that the big dark eyebrows are going!  I've had enough of it and can't wait for them to go!  The spring and the rest of 2017 is going to be all about natural eyebrows and eyelashes, just an overall more natural look.

Favorite spring candle?

My favourite spring candle is definitely the Nectarine Blossom & Honey Candle by Jo Malone. It is such a spring smelling candle.  I absolutely love it.  I love all Jo Malone candles but this one definitely has to be one of my favourites.

Favorite body spray or perfume for spring?

My favourite perfume/spray is the CHANEL COCO MADEMOISELLE Eau De Parfum Spray.  It's a classic and I love it.  It smells amazing and will always be my go to.

What is spring like where you live?

Spring where I live is good.  The weather is getting really warm already and I'm so happy about it.  We didn't have any snow this winter so there are no puddles.  I hope it continues to get warmer and warmer.

Are you a spring cleaner?

Yes!  I always seem to have more energy in the spring, so I guess I'm a spring cleaner.

Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?

No plans other than spending lots of time with family, going to the park a lot, celebrating my brothers birthday which happens to be the same day as Easter and eating tons of chocolate!

I'm not exactly sure who has and hasn't done this tag so you can consider yourself tagged if you want to do it. I will be tagging Alex from Heartful Living, Samantha from Artful Samantha and Imogen from Imogen's Stories.

Lee Stafford The Original Chopstick Styler Curling Wand Review

I was lucky enough to be gifted a Chopstick Styler by Lee Stafford, and I couldn't be more happy!  I have wanted one for a while to enhance my already curly hair and it just works a treat.  I used to have springing corkscrew curls but after I dyed my hair they disappeared and I was left with not so nice curls.

This Chopstick Styler works incredibly, even with VERY thick hair like myself.  It creates beautiful, tight curls and for the price, you can't really go wrong.  The Styler also comes with a two year guarantee so that if anything happened to go wrong, you can get your money back.

Overall this Chopstick Styler is great value and quality for the price and very lightweight, perfect for travelling.  I am so happy with this and would 100% recommend it!

Top 10 Beauty Hacks

I love finding new beauty hacks to make life a little easier.  If you do too, then you're in the right place.  Whether it's beauty hacks, fashion hacks, blogging hacks, they all offer something that will make you think 'why have I not heard of this until now?!'.  So without further ado, here is a list of my 'Top 10 Beauty Hacks'.

1. The Instant Eyeliner Secret.  Long gone are the days of redoing eyeliner because it's not equal or spending ages trying to apply it neatly.  You can simply just apply some eyeliner to your eyelash curlers and.....whabam.  You never have to worry about how long it will take to do your eyeliner again

2. The Cupids Bow Cross. Lip liner is one of those things that is just a pain, especially when trying to get the cupids bow to look half even.  However, you can draw a cross on your cupids bow, which not only keeps everything symmetrical, but also exaggerates your shape ever so slightly.

3. Natural Lighting Is Key.  Make sure you do your makeup in natural lighting to avoid any embarrassment.  Doing your makeup in unnatural lighting is a common mistake.  It can make your makeup look harsh and the wrong tone if  you don't use the right lighting. Natural lighting is key!

4. Smoky Eye Makeup Made Easy.  With your eyeliner, draw a slanted hashtag at the outer corner of each eye.  Then simply blend it in with the rest of your eye makeup.  This helps you achieve a smoky eye with very little effort.

5. Make Your Lipstick Last longer.  Put on some lipstick, then lay some tissue across your lips.  Dust translucent powder over the top to make the colour set so your lipstick lasts longer.  This hack may be old but it's still gold.

6. Mascara Made Easy.  For this hack all you need is a spoon.  Hold the rounded part of the spoon against your upper eyelids while applying your mascara.  Rather than the mascara going on your eyelids it'll go on the spoon.  Yay!

7. Dry Shampoo Before Bed.  For the bet results, spray dry shampoo in your hair before you go to bed.  As you sleep the dry shampoo will really work itself into your hair.  This works a treat and saves a lot of time and effort.

8. The French Manicure Hack.  Wrap an elastic band around your finger so it lays straight across you nail.  Apply your nail vanish.  This is super-duper easy and makes manicures a lot easier.

9.  Coconut Oil As A Makeup Remover.  Coconut oil is a great alternative to makeup wipes and other makeup removing liquids.  Coconut oil actually works really well.  Plus it's completely natural.  Your skin will thank you!

10. Mascara Brush for Brows.  Before you chuck out your old mascara, make sure you save your mascara brush.  Mascara brushes are perfect for combing your brows and keeping them well groomed.  You could also rub your mascara brush in an eyebrow powder to give them a little more colour.

Which of these beauty hacks was your favourite?  Do you know any more fabulous beauty hacks that I didn't write down?

High End Spring Lookbook 2017

Signs of spring are everywhere and thank goodness because I am so over this cold weather!  No longer we have to wear layers of clothing and stay huddled up inside because it's too cold to do anything.  A little warm weather will change what I wear everyday drastically.  Rather than several layers, just a jacket to throw over a light and airy dress will do the job.

Spring 2017

This season will be all about off-the-shoulder dresses, tops, jumpsuits, basically anything that is off-the-shoulder!  White lace off-the-shoulder dresses are my personal favourite at the moment.  They are so versatile and go with most things.  I really like the biker vibe you get when throwing a leather jacket and a cute pair of leather booties together, but if you want to play it a little more casual but still stylish then a pair of white converse shoes would go really well.

Accessories are everything, they complete the outfit and fix everything together perfectly.  Accessories are an absolute must!
To go with the spring/summer theme, I thought that the Chanel Vintage Beige Quilted Caviar Classic Flap Mini Square - Brown went so well.  The pinky-browny-beige colour is such a pretty feminine colour.  It adds a pop of colour, without being too much, which is perfect because in spring you don't want to be over the top colourful and summery.

Doing your makeup right for spring is essential.  Soft pinks, nudes and warm browns are the best spring colours as they're so subtle and feminine.  The Stila Perfect Me Perfect Hue Eye & Cheek Palette is perfect for the spring.  It's great because it's a two in one palette.  It has eyeshadow and blush in it which is also great for travelling.  This palette has the warm and soft tones that give you the complete eye/cheek duo.

What would makeup be without a good lipstick?!  This Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick is absolutely gorgeous.  The lipstick case is rose gold and who can resist anything that's rose gold, especially lipstick, honestly?!  It completes the whole spring look and just ties everything together so beautifully.

Nerve by Jeanne Ryan - Book Review

Nerve is a book about a game where you can choose to either be a player or a watcher.  If you choose to be a player, you have to complete dares where you can win things that you love.  If you choose to be a watcher, you have to film the players doing their dares.
Vee is bored of applying makeup and doing everything backstage.  Suddenly she decides she doesn't want to be her friend's sidekick anymore, she wants to be in the spotlight for once. So when Vee decides to join as a player, her whole life changes.  She starts off doing dares as a bit of harmless fun, but soon gets addicted and can't seem to stop.  They tempt her with prizes from her ThisIsMe page, and it all seems so worth it. Not only that, but she is partnered up with the perfect boy, Ian.

Vee quickly becomes a sensation with thousands of people watching her.  The dares become worse and worse, but Ian always manages to convince Vee to go on to the next round.
The game soon takes a terrible turn as the last five players are taken to a secret location for the Grand Prize round.
Vee soon finds herself with her life on the line and starts to wonder if any of it was even worth it.
Ian and Vee decide to try and escape before it's too late, but will they manage?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't stop turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.
